Background
The Bergen County Technical Schools (BCTS) District is currently under investigation by the New Jersey State Attorney General for corruption and mismanagement. In recent months, BCTS administrators have been criticized for filing false travel expenditures, issuing excessive layoffs, terminating the adult school program, and spending $1.1 million on electronic microscopes. After all this, BCTS Superintendent Robert Aloia, was finally suspended on January 1, 2010.
Among other NJ elected officials, State Senators Paul Sarlo, Loretta Weinberg, and Robert Gordon have called for all school board members “associated with Aloia’s leadership” to resign. Currently, three of the four appointed Board of Education members associated with Aloia have resigned and were replaced.
The administration’s acts have been unbelievably shameful and must be investigated thoroughly. We, the taxpayers of Bergen County, have had enough. Let’s show the elected officials that we want real changes and completely new oversight—please sign this petition today.

Appoint Simon Li to the Board of Education of the Bergen County Technical Schools
Dear Dennis McNerney and the Board of Chosen Freeholders,
We, the residents of Bergen County, are disgusted by the Bergen County Technical Schools District administration’s shameful, corrupt actions. Further, the BCTS Board of Education must be reformed so that it may provide real oversight to prevent future misconduct.
As NJ Senators Paul Sarlo, Loretta Weinberg, and Robert Gordon said, we also believe that any Board of Education member “associated with [Robert] Aloia” need to resign. We have to clear the shroud of past impropriety to protect the students’ future and to continue making sure that BCTS remains a top school district.
The BCTS and all Bergen County taxpayers deserve a new Board of Education member who will serve as their independent-thinking advocate. We believe that Simon Li, a Bergen Academies graduate, has the leadership skills, enthusiasm, and experience to bring about the changes that we desperately need.
We support Simon Li and urge that you appoint/confirm him to the next open BCTS Board of Education position.
